Hands [Practice] by ChaosSoda Hands [Practice] by ChaosSoda
:icondonotuseplz::iconmyartplz:

I was teaching my sister how to draw hands and a few other things a couple of weeks before school started, and I ended up doing a sheet of hands.

I forgot about them, so they haven't been uploaded until now.

This is NOT a base or template of any kind. You may use it as a -reference- but not trace it or color it.

Thanks. I was having a good day for drawing hands when I did these. I would have done more, but I had to leave for a doctor's appointment.

Yeah. I was going through ideas, wondering which to draw next, when I saw the clock. I'd thought about doing more when I got home, but I ended up not doing any and just scanning it instead. Then I never uploaded it (at least not until a few days ago).

This is awesome :D Hands are pretty difficult to draw accurately.

Thanks. I always had trouble with hands holding things, so I decided to practice that while I was feeling good about drawing hands.

Drawing hands can totally be a mood-killing task, but when they come out decent, it's fulfilling.

That's absolutely true. The same can be said about me trying to draw characters I like.

Oh my gosh, I know the feeling. At first, I'm thinking "Oh, yeah, I'm going to draw an awesome fanart of this person, and it's going to look like this and this and this.", but then it comes out looking nothing like how I expected or I get frustrated with little pieces that won't come out right. Art can be frustrating sometimes.

It's incredibly frustrating. I want so badly to draw characters I actually really like, but I just feel like I'll screw it up horribly.

Whenever I'm all psyched up to do it, suddenly, I start picturing hideous, lopsided drawings and imagining the annoyed reactions of whoever I'm drawing (ex. "...Is that supposed to be me?"). I still practice all the time, but I just don't draw who I want to. If I had my way, everything would be covered in doodles of my favorite characters.

That'd be awesome. They need to create a pen that can take the idea you're seeing in your mind and project it onto a paper and then you can just do whatever you want with it, and it changes as you think. Then you can just draw it exactly how you imagine it instead of trying to recreate this awesome image you're seeing in your head. But, then again, if that was invented, everyone would be able to draw whatever they wanted.

That's true, but I used to think about the exact same thing. But still, it'd only really work for creative people, or people who are good at picturing vivid images.

It'd probably spit out some...interesting things for me, considering how quickly my thoughts can change sometimes. Being distracted while using such a pen would probably yield things like pages of fanart with doodles of chocolate, cats, and things that I need to put on a shopping list scattered all around.

I used to hate drawing hands, but in high school, I went through a phase where I liked them. Now, I have a sort of love/hate relationship with them. On good days, I don't mind having to draw them, but on other days, I hate it.

A good thing to do to get better at hands is draw your own hands in different positions, or use references to practice. Also, avoid hiding hands in your drawings (which a lot of people who have trouble with hands do), it doesn't help anyone improve.

What about drawing feet for characters that wear sandals? (Like Fang from FFXIII..) Think you can practice on feet?

You mean for reference purposes? If that's the case, I have a couple of feet hidden in with a bunch of hands I did a while back, somewhere in my gallery. If there's demand for them, I might practice and upload some.

I don't usually need to draw feet, since 90% of the people I draw wear boots or closed-toe shoes, but it can't hurt to practice, really, so I'll probably give it a try.

At that case, willing to try out my OCs that have no shoes as practice?

I'll probably just draw an assortment of feet in different poses, instead of drawing characters, because that way, I can fit more references on one page, and do them faster.

Ah. Maybe the same thing will happen to me. I just kinda stink at hands. But i can draw almost any kind of paw. ^^

That's a good skill to have.

I've only drawn paws maybe three times in my entire life, so maybe I'm not the best at them.

I don't really ever draw animals, but when I do, they're my cats, so I mostly draw cat paws. The nice thing is, I have three white, fluffy references running around my house, if I want to practice.

On of my cats likes to stick her feet under my door (because there's a decent-sized gap between door and floor) and grab my bedskirt. Sometimes, I hear a sound, and I look down, and all I see are these little white feet moving back and forth under my door, sometimes the tip of an ear or some whiskers, too.
